Privacy at WatchMatch
Last updated: 30 August 2026. WatchMatch is designed to work without requiring a user account.
Information stored on your device
Your Watchlist, including whether a title is marked Want to Watch, Watching or Watched, is stored in your browser's local storage. WatchMatch may also store your recent recommendation preferences locally so the matching experience can learn from the choices made on that device. Clearing site data in your browser removes this local information.
Searches and recommendation requests
The search terms, recommendation choices and 2-to-1 descriptions you submit are sent to WatchMatch server functions so they can be processed against film and TV catalogue data. Do not enter private or sensitive information into free-text recommendation fields.
Feedback
If you use the feedback form, the rating, feature choice, return-intent answer and written feedback are sent to a WatchMatch server function. The current build can record these submissions in Vercel function logs, or send them to a private feedback endpoint if one is configured. An optional checkbox lets you give permission for written feedback to be quoted anonymously on WatchMatch. Feedback should not contain private information.
Third-party services
WatchMatch uses TMDB data. Trailer and streaming-provider links can open third-party services, which have their own privacy policies and practices.
Analytics, advertising and accounts
This privacy notice must be reviewed whenever analytics, advertising, sign-in/accounts, email subscriptions or other data-collecting features are added or materially changed.
